The Origin Story
Our journey began with a woman with a simple passion to create beautiful and timeless window coverings. Mei Dong founded MYT Shutters in 2006 and set out to transform people’s homes and their lives with the best quality shutters.
What started off as a small local business in Sydney, has grown into an international company with offices in Australia, Europe and Asia. We are now 300 people across the world with factories in Australia and China who are driven by innovation, sustainability and craftsmanship.

We take our shutters very seriously. So serious in fact, that we invent and reinvent ways on how to make them better and then patent those inventions. We dedicate ourselves to creating the most beautiful shutters while minimising our environmental impact. Our cutting edge manufacturing techniques ensures we are always operating efficiently, with the least amount of waste produced thanks to our recycling programs. Our shutters not only transform homes but also make a positive impact on the planet.
With over 34 patents we are leading the way in the shutter industry, providing custom made shutter solutions of the highest quality to retailers all over the world.
Becoming more sustainable
Sustainability is a driving force behind meaningful change and innovation for us. In 2023 we constructed new packaging enabling us to cut out 100% of the polystyrene used, moved our production lines to a state of the art facility powered by solar power and designed our advanced paint room to use 95% less water than before.

Wood Shutters
Our Wooden shutters are the most popular and versatile in our entire shutter range. MYT has the perfect solution for any window, door or interior design style. We work with the highest quality of timber, never any MDF or ‘Engineered Wood’, sourced only from places with Sustainable Forest Management practices. Our wood shutter range includes Basswood, White Teak, Paulownia and Western Red Cedar.
Polymer Shutters
Visually indistinguishable from timber and resilient to moisture and humidity. Our PVC shutters, also known as polymer shutters are crafted with our own superior formulated virgin polymer with an aluminium core. Relatively lightweight and very sturdy, these PVC window shutters are great in any interior as they are easy to maintain and resistant to moisture, temperature and knocks and bumps.
Aluminium Shutters
The most robust shutter in our range, our Aluminium shutters are the ultimate choice for your exterior. Able to withstand the UK weather, without compromising on elegance or functionality. Made from the highest quality T5 grade aluminium with a MYT formulated powder coating which is scratch and weather resistant. What is not to love about Aluminium shutters? Now avalible in vertical!
Electric shutters
MYT Shutters have developed its very own next generation motorised control solution for our plantation shutters, which offers a new level of convenience that traditional shutters can’t compete with. Remote controlled electric shutters ensure you always have the perfect blade position in the palm of your hand.
Motorised Louver Roof Systems ( MLRS )
MYT Shutters have expanded the Aluminum product offering with the additon of the motorised louver roof system (MLRS). This system can attach to buildings or be completely stand alone. With built in RGB lighting, Spot lights, Fully motorised roof, Wind sensor & Rain/snow sensor its the ideal solution for creating outdoor space. Decking areas, patios, hot tubs & outdoor bars can now be expanded and used in all weathers.
